Be A Man & Get A Facial!!
Most men that I know don’t spend much time at all taking care of their skin health. They use the same cleanser on their face as they use on their bodies, skip a skincare routine altogether and boast about it. As a society, we’ve normalized shaming men for taking care of themselves. Calling them names and questioning their masculinity as a whole. A few times I’ve tried explaining the importance of wearing sunblock daily and have been met with, “That’s for p*$$!#$.” Sorry bro, didn’t realize you were tougher than the sun. My bad (insert eye roll).
I am happy to say that as a professional in the skincare industry, I’ve seen a huge shift in this old-fashioned point of view! Can I get an AMEN?!? I have the pleasure of treating multiple males a week – of all ages and races. More and more seem to want to do monthly treatments as-well-as start a routine at home to maintain results and prevent future damage.
Men are starting to understand that just like all the females in the world, their largest organ is their SKIN! Healthy skin = healthy life. Acne, rosacea, dermatitis, eczema, aging, hyperpigmentation are all equal opportunists. They do not see color, race, tax brackets, or sex. If you’re a human being, you’re going to experience one or more of these skin conditions sooner or later. So be a man and get a facial!!!
Unlike most female clients, my male clients want a simple and to-the-point skincare routine. I start them with a good cleanser, a serum and/or moisturizer that fits their needs, and a sunblock. Some cleansers can even be used to shave. Cleansing while treating their skin as they shave lowers the chances of ingrown hairs and irritated skin. I work with you and your lifestyle, not the other way around.
The modern man knows that aging gracefully isn’t just for the ladies. Feeling good impacts you as a whole. Looking and feeling your best is a right that we all have and should claim proudly. So ladies, continue to share your skincare routine with the men in your lives and let’s keep moving forward to a society that lets everyone enjoy a good face mask in peace.
